Gigging adventures and lessons learned
Here is a pretty good story, not my best, But it is short.
I was working with a great band in L.A. called the Suicide Kings. 3 pc hard rock band. Really fun KISS sounding band. The band thinks we have a pretty good sound and line up and a CD is the next step. I'm being modest.
We're at this studio in North Hollywood, CA and things are going so well we decide that some booze is THE justified reward. The boys love beer, I was a gin dude. I had my worst coffee mug because ... well nevermind that. I did my parts (Drums) and then Chris (Guitar player) was gonna lay down his tracks with the engineer.
There was a taco shop down the block where we loaded up on burritos. I mention this for a reason. Vinny (Bass guitar and darned fine KISS cover guitarist) and I aren't tracking, recording, nothing. We were just drunken nuisances. As I was tracking my drums these bitches was draining my gin! I knew something was off! 1st off; these are Hollywood rock dogs and they were smiling and giggling. Even lighthearted. Not very rock and roll. Luckily I came through the door and saved enough gin for myself! The same conversation ensued that I'm sure always ensues at that point and I swill gin and catch up while business continued.
So while Chris is making lightning in a bottle and Pro Tools is spinning gold Vin and I realize we aren't involved for the rest of the session. Maybe ears, I've waited long enough! I produced some weed and Vinny wants to be involved, which isn't common. So me and Vin get inspired. Here is where the burrito gets involved. The Kings have a tradition which is that when they use this studio they get a signature burrito from up the block to use thusly: the combo meal must be mixed around in a certain fashion. The ritual is completed when the studio's toilet looks like the biggest mess of drug addicted rocker ... let's call it push through and pretend we don't know what I'm trying not to describe, OK?
Yeah the staff came up with all kinds of reasons how the bathroom got that way. The cap of the night was after I left Vinny went missing. Turns out Vinny got agro and sullen when he got stoned. No one remembered this and I didn't even know it. They found him well into morning sleeping under the stairs. Stoned Vinny brooked no fools.

Unveiling musical instruments and gear
For me I've always been a Fender guitar kinda fella. The Strat shape is what comes to mind when electric guitars come up. There are so many tones and feels you can get from parts configurations that make you go yippee and I don't have a go to guitar in general but for me it's Strat off the top of my mind.
Pearl are my favorite drums for some reason. Again, I've had a bunch of drumsets since they are my 1st and favorite instrument. Like the Strat when drums come up I always get the mental image of Pearls as the starting point.

Decoding music theory and rock and roll history
Right now I don't have a jump off point musically related. Stay tuned. HAHA!!
